Research Experience
Summary of Master Thesis or equivalent project
Purpose: This document should provide a clear overview of your Master’s research for faculty members from different backgrounds. It should help readers quickly understand: What you studied, Why it matters, What methods you used, What you found or achieved, What challenges you faced and how you addressed them, What you learned through the process

Writing Tips
  • Aim for clarity over technical depth
  • Assume the reader is a physicist, but not from your subfield (avoid unexplained acronyms and field-specific jargon).
  • Be specific, not vague  (“I studied ultracold atoms” is too general; “I simulated Bose-Hubbard chains with time-dependent perturbations” is clearer.)
  • Focus on your contribution, not just the topic background.
+ Your Name + Your supervisor(s) name(s) + Institution
3–5 sentences: What is the topic about & why is it relevant in physics or technology?
What was the main goal or hypothesis of your work?
Was your work theoretical, experimental, computational or a combination? What models, techniques, tools or equipment did you use?
Summarize your key findings or contributions
Technical, conceptual or practical difficulties & how you overcame them (this helps us assess problem-solving ability)
Scientific or technical competencies you developed
Could your work be extended? Is there an open question remaining?
please simply add the links to the publications
Motivation and Fit with VCQ

If so, which ones ?

Which statement best reflects how you would like to engage with research during your PhD?

Please share details of extracurricular activities, programs or groups that have helped you develop skills relevant to your scientific career and could positively impact your PhD studies.
What type of working environment helps you perform at your best?
